As the first initial step before we install the packages, we would like to create the relevant profiles that will be available at the time of installation.

In order to do so, you need to check which Salesforce licenses you have in order to asses which profiles can be cloned. You can only clone profiles that have a license, as all the privileges associated with the profile are duplicated.

License check

  • Go to the Salesforce Setup menu (can be found on the top right side, either on the main page or under your name)
  • Go to the Company Profile -> Company Information
  • Scroll down to the User Licenses section
  • Relevant licenses are Salesforce or Salesforce Platform

1

  • In the example below we used Salesforce user license

Create profiles

Create 3 profiles: Employee, Planner and Administrator.

  • Go to the Setup menu -> Manage Users -> Profiles
  • Click New
  • Existing Profile field should be Standard User or Standard Platform User according to the first section of the guide
  • Update Profile Name as you like, we recommend using FieldExpert + profile type (e.g. FieldExpert Employee)

Clone profile

  • Click Save
  • Note: If you have created your own custom profiles you may use them, otherwise, the best practice would be for FieldExpert Employee and Planner clone the Standard User profile, and for FieldExpert Administrator clone the System Administrator profile
